KITI was established in 1987 to provide informatization education for Korean industries and public institutions. Our Local Autonomy Research Institute opened in 1991 when local autonomy was reinstated in Korea, with the conviction that "for a nation to stand right, the regions must stand right." We strive continuously for the development of Korean local autonomy and proper parliamentary culture through high-quality education in exemplary council operation, budget and settlement review, administrative inspection, and autonomous legislation, as well as strengthening public officials' competencies.

Our institute will continue to dedicate itself to in-depth research activities and policy alternatives to solve regional issues, working toward mutual development of local councils and executive bodies. Your continued interest and encouragement are appreciated.
